Training With Jason Was Very Rewarding!
Training with Jason Nunn was very rewarding!
I enjoyed training under Jason Nunn. Jason’s knowledge of sports performance and exercise is apparent with his professional workouts that are geared towards your goals and physical abilities. I trained with Jason for two years, and during that time I never had the same routine! He makes working out a challenge, but with a feeling of accomplishment and success. Jason’s training made me stronger, healthier, and changed my attitude towards day to day life. My energy level increased, as well as, my drive and determination!

Avon Firefighter Testimonial
Whether it’s carrying tools, lifting patients, or fighting fire, Jason has made my job as a firefighter/EMT much easier.
Check Out Deven’s Testimonial
To Jason and Valerie Nunn at Nunn’s Performance Training:
a testimonial and a thank you for helping Deven Ramsey with his speed, agility, and strength training over this last winter. The result was a three way varsity track meet this evening between Westlane, Northview, and Guion Creek schools in which Deven took a third place in the 100 meter hurdles, a first place in the individual 400 meter sprint, and a first place as team anchor in the 4X400 meter relay.
So far this season he has several sprinting golds among his medals, and his coach is encouraging him to continue with his training
on and off the track in order to maximize his potential. Not bad for a kid who only a couple of years ago was barely hobbling around
after football and soccer practices on some very painful heal spurs, as a result of a stubborn case of plantar fasciitis!

Five Tips For Increasing Your Vertical Jump
Having a good vertical jump is pretty important in most sports (Captain Obvious, I know). As such, it’s a pretty important goal for most of the athletes I work with. Most equipment manufacturers know this and try to sell various products like jump shoes and various band contraptions to improve this. In this post, I’m going to outline five strategies for improving vertical jump that don’t need any of these.
1. Move Better
Movement quality is the first thing we look at when an athlete walks in the door. Can the athlete squat without their knees falling into valgus collapse? Do their heels lift? Do they have poor shoulder/t-spine mobility? If the athlete has tight hip flexors, they aren’t going to be able to access their posterior chain as well. If the athletes knees are falling in, their heals lift, and they have poor mobility, they aren’t going to have the best jumping ability. Vertical jump – and jumping in general – is all about force production relative to your bodyweight. If the athlete has the poor movement skills mentioned above, they won’t be able to apply as much force to the ground. This means a lower vertical jump.

Today, my lumbar and SI joints are still bothering me, so I just did some light cleans. Worked up to 255 x 1. Then did 10 hill sprints in 7:52.

I felt really sore from yesterday’s events, so I just worked up to 405 x 1 on bench and called it a day.

My Favorite Training Songs
Had some down time in the gym today, so I thought I’d lay out my ten favorite songs to listen to while I train. These are in no particular order:
Chimera – Destroy and Dominate
Eminem – ‘Till I Collapse
Down – Bury Me In Smoke
Hatebreed – No Halos For The Heartless
Hatebreed – I Will Be Heard
Terror – Overcome
Eminem – Lose Yourself
Santana – Second Coming
Throwdown – Holy Roller
Black Label Society – Bleed For Me
This is some of my favorite music to train with. Right now anyways. What are yours?

Should Athletes Olympic Lift?
“Speed deadlifts are the lazy, uncoordinated answer to power cleans.”
-Jim Wendler
The olympic lifts are the snatch and the clean and jerk. They have many variations that include but aren’t limited to the hang snatch, hang clean, power snatch, power clean, dumbbell cleans, dumbbell snatches, and many more. They are all very explosive yet technically challenging total body lifts that are designed to increase the athletes power production. More specifically, to increase power production in triple extension (ankle, knee, and hip extension).
The big debate in the sports performance world is whether they should be used to train athletes. The opponents of olympic lifts say that the lifts are too hard to teach, to technically demanding, and to risky for injury.
